Ecolab Inc., the global leader in water, hygiene and infection prevention solutions and services, today announced a partnership with Ecoplant to sell its Ecoplant 360 digital solution to help customers significantly reduce the electricity used in compressed air systems through dynamic monitoring and control. Ecolab and Ecoplant first connected through the Techstars Farm to Fork Accelerator, a first-of-its-kind program co-funded by Ecolab that mentors start-ups to help them achieve their vision and long-term business goals.

As a company with sustainability at its core, Ecolab has set an ambitious goal to help customers become carbon neutral by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 6 million metric tons by 2030. The Ecoplant solution expands Ecolab's capabilities to include the optimization of compressed air systems and the related energy and carbon impact affected by such programs.

“The decision to partner with Ecoplant was very attractive, as they are also focused on offering sustainable solutions to our customers. While Ecolab has strong expertise in smart water management, Ecoplant is focused squarely on reducing energy usage, which has a large impact on greenhouse gas emissions, fitting in nicely with Ecolab’s goal of making a positive impact on our world's water and climate through responsible operations,” said Viveca Fairbanks-Henderson, Vice President & General Manager of the Food, Beverage, and Manufacturing business unit for Ecolab’s Nalco Water division.

“Given unprecedented global events affecting supply chain and energy costs, the desire to save energy and the related cost has never been greater,” said Aviran Yaacov, CEO and Co-founder of Ecoplant. “The systems that generate compressed air are one of the largest energy users in a plant, accounting for up to 30% of the site’s overall electricity usage. The Ecoplant 360 system is designed to continuously monitor compressed air usage, learn plant demands and adjust as needed to optimize efficiency and increase savings potential.”

Ecolab has implemented the Ecoplant 360 solution in its own plant in Joliet, Illinois. In the first six months of the program, Ecoplant 360 has provided a 17% reduction in the amount of electricity used to generate compressed air, in addition to numerous soft benefits such as leak reductions, proactive maintenance alerts and recommendations for infrastructure upgrades. This reduction in energy has a direct correlation to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, positioning Ecolab to continue pursuing its net zero goals. Ecolab is exploring replicating similar successes across 12 of its plants.
