The LDI program for dairy production facilities
is aimed at prevention of disease between animals and between
farms – a combination of vaccination, diagnostics,
quarantine and treatment, cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing, and
eliminating birds and vermin from the premises. |
| The first step in prevention of cross
contamination is to help stop diseases in their tracks. Oxy-Sept®
333 is an antimicrobial sanitizer and disinfectant used in housing facilities
and other sources of cross contamination including boots. |
 |
Besides being labeled for foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) virus control,
the sanitizing activity of Oxy-Sept® 333 can help stop the spread
of more than 20 disease pathogens, including Salmonella,
Staphylococcus aureus, E.coli, Pasteurella multocida and Mycobacterium
bovis (tuberculocidal).
Critical Control Points for Prevention of
Cross Contamination:
- Boots and footwear – clean and sanitize at all
entryways into and within the facility with bucket and brush or
doorway foam sanitizing systems.

- Freshening pens should be thoroughly cleaned and
sanitized after calving.

|
Calving pens and hutches – clean and disinfect
after removal of each calf.
|
- Flow of vehicles and people into a facility should
be monitored. Limit
livestock access to essential people. Boots, hands and clothes should be sanitized before
entering and leaving the facility.
|
 |
- Clean and disinfect vehicles, especially livestock carriers.
