UDDERgold 5-Star represents a major advancement in barrier film technology with a significant improvement in its germicidal properties. It now has an advanced, superior germicidal system to kill mastitis-causing organisms, especially those from the environment.

In an in-vitro germicidal test method modeled after the NMC Protocol A procedure, UDDERgold 5-Star's barrier film was 100x more effective than UDDERgold Plus, and 1000x more effective than InterSept^® in killing bacteria.

UDDERgold5-Star's advanced, dual-barrier killing power is superior to InterSept, and even UDDERgold Plus, as shown during in-vitro pseudo-excised teat tests.

More Powerful and Longer-Lasting Germicidal System

UDDERgold 5-Star, using Alcide's ASC germicidal technology, is a powerful, broad-spectrum killing agent. It is also selective in what it attacks, so it is unaffected by the presence of an organic load, such as milk. UDDERgold 5-Star has been proven through testing at the LSU Agricultural Center to be very effective against Mycoplasma species. In fact, it had a better overall kill profile than iodine.

UDDERgold 5-Star's germicidal activity remains more stable over time than InterSept and Bi-Sept.

Proven Effectiveness Against Contagious Mastitis

University trials based on NMC protocols confirm the effectiveness of UDDERgold 5-Star on cows. In a 12-week clinical study at Louisiana State University, UDDERgold 5-Star reduced new S. aureus infections by 77 percent and new S. agalactiae infections by 16 percent. An earlier study at Washington State University showed that UDDERgold 5-Star reduced new S. aureus infections by 50 percent and S. agalactiae infections by 87 percent.

Using NMC Experimental Challenge Protocols, studies at Louisiana State University and Washington State University confirmed a reduction in new intramammary infections over a non-treated control.

Lasting Color Benefit

UDDERgold 5-Star has improved color longevity (once mixed) with extended color retention on teats. Because UDDERgold 5-Star uses a food grade FDA-approved coloring agent, teats are effectively and clearly marked, without leaving stains on equipment and floors, as other products may.

Teat skin condition was broadly evaluated on commercial dairies in the Northwest, Midwest, Northeast and California during cold, wet weather with good results.

Sanitizing Teat Dip Contents Activators: 1.5% Lactic Acid, 0.5% Mandelic Acid Base: .64% Sodium Chlorite KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN UDDERgold 5-Star Germicidal Barrier Teat Dip is used as an aid in reducing the spread of organisms, which may cause mastitis. The gel formulation provides a protective barrier over the teat end until the next milking. Directions for Use: Measure equal amounts of UDDERgold 5-Star base and activator into a clean container and mix until the color is uniform throughout. Do not dilute. Only mix enough product for one milking of the herd. The average product amount used is less than 1/4 ounce per cow per milking. Discard any unused teat dip. Rinse dip cups and equipment with tap water after each milking. Application: Immediately after milking, dip teat from 2/3 to full length in UDDERgold 5-Star Germicidal Teat Dip. Allow to air dry. Do not wipe. Always use freshly mixed, full strength UDDERgold 5-Star Germicidal Teat Dip. If product in dip cup becomes visibly dirty, discard contents and refill with fresh UDDERgold 5-Star teat dip. Do not turn cows out in freezing weather until teat dip is completely dry. Prior to the next milking, pre-dip or wash teats thoroughly with a compatible pre-dip or udder wash using proper procedures. Dry with a single service towel. When a cow is being dried off, dip the teats once a day for several days after the last milking. Under normal conditions, UDDERgold 5-Star Germicidal Teat Dip will remain on teats for at least 24 hours. Beginning approximately 10 days prior to calving, dip teats twice daily with UDDERgold 5-Star teat dip. Note 1. If teat irritation occurs, discontinue use until irritation subsides. Consult your veterinarian and milking equipment service personnel if irritation persists. Note 2. Avoid freezing. If product is exposed to freezing temperatures, component must be mixed thoroughly prior to use. Note 3. The gold color in the mixed product fades with time. At higher temperatures the fading is more rapid. However, this will not affect the product's efficacy.
