| 1935 EL's "powder peddlers" |

|
By the mid-1930s, about 34 "powder peddlers" were selling Soilax in the Midwest and eastern United States. After six years of selling in New York, M.J. Osborn's son, E.B., returned to St. Paul as a sales manager. He put together elaborate sales presentations and promoted the company's research capabilities. He also turned his salespeople into dishwashing consultants who not only sold EL products, but also fixed and maintained customers' dishwashers, trained kitchen employees, analyzed dish-handling procedures and recommended ways to minimize breakage. They were on call 24 hours a day. |
