| Dishes unloaded from restaurant dishwashers were never completely dry, leaving it to workers to finish the job with a dish cloth, which often contaminated the dish. In 1948, EL introduced the first rinse additive, speeding up the drying process by causing water to roll off dishes in sheets. |

In February, EL celebrated its 25th anniversary with a party at the Hotel Lowry in St. Paul. The company now had 130 St. Paul employees, 200 salespeople and 100 manufacturing employees. M.J. Osborn took the podium and told the crowd, "You haven't seen anything yet, as far as Economics Laboratory Inc. is concerned." He was right. |
