Ecolab and Henkel KGaA, a worldwide marketer of chemical products based in Germany, formed a strategic alliance to better position both for a united European market. The Henkel-Ecolab joint venture set up headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany, and combined European sales exceeded $750 million. A year later, Ecolab Export GmbH was established to service non-European markets not already covered.. |

Ecolab's Water Care Services Division was created in 1994 to offer water treatment programs for boilers, cooling water and waste treatment systems. That same year, the company acquired the Kay Chemical Co. of Greensboro, N.C., gaining a long-sought leadership position in the quickservice cleaning and sanitizing market.
Klenzade changed its name to the Food & Beverage Division in 1995 to capitalize on the reputation of the Ecolab name. The Janitorial Division also underwent a name change, to Professional Products, when Ecolab acquired Huntington Laboratories Inc. |

As the company celebrated its 75th year in business, its new GeoSystem 9000 offering was revolutionizing the warewashing industry with a new standard of product performance, employee safety and environmental stewardship.
The company also acquired its newest division, GCS Service, the leading national provider of repair, parts replacement and customized maintenance for commercial foodservice equipment. |
