Scott’s focus is the collaboration of all stakeholders to drive enhancements to the industry’s sanitation, hygiene, and Food Safety and Quality programs.

As the Director of Food Safety and Quality in Ecolab’s Global Food and Beverage Division, Dr. Scott Burnett and team bridge Ecolab Innovation and Service Excellence with today’s needs and future trends of the Food and Beverage processing sector. Scott’s focus is the collaboration of all stakeholders to drive enhancements to the industry’s sanitation, hygiene, and Food Safety and Quality programs. 

Previously, Scott was the Director of R&D for Ecolab’s Latin America Food and Beverage team. Before joining Ecolab, he was the Corporate Sanitation Manager at Land O’ Lakes and Corporate Manager of Quality and Food Safety at MOM Brands (now Post Consumer Brands), both in Minnesota, USA. He brings experience in enhancing Food Safety and Quality programs at both corporate and plant levels. Scott has authored or coauthored 12 peer-reviewed scientific publications, 5 issued patents, and has presented at multiple different technical venues. He is on the editorial review board of the Journal of Food Protection and Food Protection Trends, both publications of the International Association for Food Protection of which he is a member. 

Scott earned his Ph.D. at the Center for Food Safety, University of Georgia and holds Bachelor degrees in Microbiology and Spanish from Montana State University.
