Dr. Zhinong Yan is the Food Safety Director, Asia-Pacific, at Ecolab.  In his current role, Zhinong focuses on enhancing the reputation of Ecolab as a global leader in food safety by providing accessible, visible leadership in the region, by monitoring and interpreting regulatory activities and outbreak situations that impact Ecolab and it major customers and by representing Ecolab in select trade, professional and academic organizations.

Dr. Zhinong Yan is the Food Safety Director, Asia-Pacific, at Ecolab. In his current role, Zhinong focuses on enhancing the reputation of Ecolab as a global leader in food safety by providing accessible, visible leadership in the region, by monitoring and interpreting regulatory activities and outbreak situations that impact Ecolab and its major customers and by representing Ecolab in select trade, professional and academic organizations.

Prior to joining Ecolab, Zhinong was a senior food safety scientist at Commercial Food Sanitation (CFS) LLC, an Intralox Company, where he conducted diverse research projects including cleaning and sanitization of equipment with various technologies, carried out food sanitation and safety assessment for food processing plants globally and actively worked on sanitation training programs for customers. Prior assignments include senior food safety scientist at Mol Belting Systems, research assistant professor at Michigan State University and research associate at the Center for Food Safety at the University of Georgia. 

Zhinong is vice chair for Food Hygiene and Sanitation professional development group of International Association for Food Protection. He initiated and serves as president of the Chinese Association for Food Protection in North America. He also was a key leader in establishing the newly-chartered China Association for Food Protection.

Zhinong holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Crop Protection from China Agricultural University and a PhD from Auburn University, Auburn, AL, U.S.A. with a focus in Plant Pathology and Microbiology.
