Narasimha M. Rao, PhD
Ecolab Vice President, Automation Solutions

Dr. Rao is passionate about solving customer problems through creative combination of chemistry, services, software, sensors and information analytics.

Previously, Dr. Rao was VP of R&D overseeing the Water, Food and Beverage and Textile areas. Over his 23 tenure at Ecolab, he has held a number of positions spanning R&D, Innovation Marketing, Product Marketing, and Automation functions, including a 3 year stint in Asia Pacific. Dr. Rao has been involved in creating and deploying several innovations related to efficient water and energy management including 3D TRASARTM, Nalco 360TM remote Services, and enVisionTM data management services. His work has resulted in eight patents, as well as recognition, including the R&D 100 award, the 2008 Presidential Green Chemistry Award and the 2010 Global Water Award.

Dr. Rao received a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Madras University, India and a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He joined Nalco in 1990 after receiving his Ph.D. in chemistry from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
