ST. PAUL, Minn. – Nov. 7, 2013 – Ecolab was presented with a 2013 Tekne Award from the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) during the association’s annual awards program Nov. 6 in Minneapolis. The Tekne Awards recognize companies, innovations and individuals that positively impact Minnesota’s technology-based economy.

“Innovation is a cornerstone of our success, and vital to our purpose of making the world cleaner, safer and healthier,” said Dr. Larry Berger, Ecolab executive vice president and chief technical officer. “This recognition from the MHTA is further acknowledgement of our commitment to address the operating challenges our customers face around the world.”

Ecolab’s Hydris On-Site Generation Cleaning System received the 2013 Impact on Industry Tekne Award. Hydris is an innovative system installed at customer locations that combines water, electricity and mineral activator tablets with unique, patented electrolytic cell technology to produce three EPA-registered[i] products that deliver affordable, effective and sustainable cleaning and disinfecting for a variety of hard surfaces[ii]

“Our large facility customers challenged us to develop a system that produces products at their location that not only save time, are safe to use and sustainable, but also effectively clean and disinfect a wide range of surfaces found in commercial buildings,” said Jim Tarara, vice president of Research, Development & Engineering for Ecolab’s Global Institutional business. “Hydris is designed to answer these customer requests and offers a new choice in our array of cleaning and sanitizing solutions.”
