Ecolab facilities are committed to implementing initiatives designed to help reduce our environmental impact across the globe and to improve the safety of our operations, protecting our employees. Compared to 2009, in 2010 we achieved:

• A 4.6 percent reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (facilities and fleet) globally
• A 4.4 percent reduction in water consumption by Ecolab sites globally
• An 18 percent reduction in total waste from Ecolab sites globally
• A 2.7 percent reduction in effluent water (wastewater) from Ecolab sites globally
• A 13 percent reduction in the number of product shipment spills
• A 6 percent reduction in Total Recordable Injury Rates (U.S.)
• A 5 percent reduction in Total Vehicle Accident Rate (U.S.)

Over the past five years (2006-2010) we achieved:

• Early achievement of a 2012 goal of reducing total energy use 10 percent from 2007 levels
• A 10.5 percent reduction in total energy used by Nalco facilities globally
• A 10.1 percent reduction in greenhouse gases (GHG) released by Nalco facilities globally
• A 12 percent reduction in NOx emissions released by Nalco facilities globally
• A 30 percent reduction in Sox emissions by Nalco facilities globally
• A 35.2 percent reduction in Total Recordable Injury Rates globally
• A 45.2 percent reduction in Total Vehicle Accident Rates globally
