Making a positive impact on the lives of others is one of the most rewarding aspects of working at Ecolab.

I see it every day in the work our team does with our valued 46-year partner, McDonald’s, and as a proud supporter of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which helps to keep families with sick children together and near much-needed medical care. Each year, Ecolab donates cleaning products to RMHC sites around the world to help ensure the health and safety of guests and staff and the Ecolab team puts in hundreds of volunteer hours.

When COVID-19 hit, we wanted to step up our efforts. We recognized that families transitioning from RMHC locations back to their homes might not be able to get adequate cleaning supplies to protect against the virus or other essentials, such as toiletries, that were in high demand. We wanted to reduce these additional burdens and make sure families could return to homes that were both safe and comfortable.

Our desire to help wasn’t just a matter of assisting a longtime partner, but more so a commitment from our team to do all we could where and when it mattered most. The worst times often bring out the best in people—and that was evident in our team’s eagerness to volunteer their time and energy.

After talking through some options, we chose to assemble “Ecolab Cares” baskets that RMHC locations could give to families returning home. Our corporate account managers independently funded their contributions, which included hand-made masks, toilet paper, paper towels, and healthy snacks. We also included cleaning products, such as bathroom cleaner, glass cleaner, and hand sanitizer.

Our team members personally delivered the baskets to the directors of RMHC sites across the country, from San Diego to Chicago to Pittsburgh. It was truly a team effort, one that illustrated the strength of the relationships we have developed, and the core values we share with RMHC. Among them: compassion and concern for the care of each family relying on the charity’s services.

We recognize that now more than ever, our partners rely on Ecolab’s products, expertise, and guidance. As we continue to fight through the COVID-19 pandemic, our team remains committed to addressing these heightened needs and delivering beyond expectations.
