Mike Johannsen is executive vice president and general manager, Global Institutional, for Ecolab Inc., the global leader in water, hygiene and infection prevention technologies and services that protect people and vital resources.
In this role, Johannsen is responsible for Ecolab’s Global Institutional business, which provides food safety and cleaning and sanitizing solutions to the foodservice, healthcare, hospitality, lodging, long-term care and commercial building markets.
Previously, Johannsen was executive vice president and general manager of Global Institutional North America. He has also served as executive vice president and general manager of Global Light Industrial for Nalco Water, an Ecolab company. Prior to this, Johannsen was vice president of Global Textile Care. During his tenure at Ecolab, Johannsen has held a variety of positions in sales, corporate accounts and management, including senior vice president and general manager of Water, Energy and Waste Solutions, and vice president and general manager of Textile Care North America. He began his career at Ecolab in 1987 as a territory manager in Institutional.
Johannsen has served as chairman of the Ecolab Community Giving Campaign, part of the company’s national United Way fundraising drive. In addition, he has served on various community boards.
Johannsen has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota.
