Ecolab Inc., the global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services that protect people and vital resources, has opened its new Latin America regional headquarters in Miramar, Fla., adding 50 new jobs to the local community.
“This investment underscores our commitment to the region and positions us well for growth now and in the future,” said John Guttery, Ecolab senior vice president and president for Latin America. “Our regional headquarters supports more than 7,000 Ecolab associates who live and work in Latin America.”
In more than 25 countries across Latin America, Ecolab delivers comprehensive solutions and on-site service to promote safe food, maintain clean environments, optimize water and energy use, and improve operational efficiencies for customers in a wide range of industries.
“Despite a challenging economic and political landscape across the region, Ecolab continues to perform well, said Guttery. “In 2015, we experienced double-digit sales growth in Latin America and the trend for 2016 remains very positive.”
The United Nations estimates that the Latin America and Caribbean population will reach 721 million by 2030, an increase of nearly 80 million people. Brazil and Mexico are expected to account for half of the region’s projected growth. This growth will include a growing middle class that will create increased demand for valuable resources.
In just 10 years’ time, Mexico could be suffering a widespread water crisis, according to the Mexican Institute of Water Technology (IMTA). Brazil’s water challenges have received widespread media attention.
“Water, energy and food are all connected. Ecolab is well positioned to help businesses and governments manage the resource challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” continued Guttery. “Our new regional headquarters for Latin America will play a key role in delivering solutions to our customers and communities throughout the region.”
