L to R: Tom Handley, president and chief operating officer; Tracy McKibben, board member; Laurie Marsh, executive vice president of Human resources; Doug Baker, chairman and CEO; Victoria Reich, board member; Beth Simermeyer, executive vice president of Global Marketing & Communications and Life Sciences; and Jill Wyant, executive vice president and president of Global Food & Beverage, Healthcare and Life Sciences.
The WomenCorporateDirectors Foundation (WCD), the leading global membership organization and community of women corporate directors, presented Ecolab Chairman and CEO Douglas M. Baker, Jr., with the 2017 WCD Visionary Award for Innovation in Shared Value during the May 10, 2017, Visionary Awards Dinner in New York City.
The award recognized Ecolab for its governance practices and initiatives to promote gender diversity and women corporate directors. Ecolab currently has four women serving on its board of directors.
“We appreciate this recognition and believe a diverse board is the only rational approach to corporate directorship. The best talent wins, including in the board room, and it is impossible to have the best if you exclude half of the talent pool,” said Baker. “We want a great board, and to achieve this, we need both talented men and women.”
Now in its seventh year, the Visionary Awards Dinner is part of WCD’s annual Global Institute in New York City, which brings together hundreds of directors, including many CEOs and board chairs, to explore some of the most urgent issues for boards today.
“Our team is our greatest competitive advantage,” added Baker. “We know that we must remain focused on providing an environment where all team members can realize their full potential.”
