AviPrime – Advanced Hygiene Programs for Peak Poultry Production
The future of broiler chicken and egg production depends on ensuring bird health and welfare, maximizing profitability, maintaining product quality, and upholding strict food safety standards.
Discover AviPrime the unique advanced, science-based hygiene program designed specifically for poultry producers and veterinarians to enhance biosecurity, reduce pathogen prevalence, and improve flock performance.
AviPrime combines effective barn cleaning and disinfection with continuous drinking water sanitation to control critical pathogens like Salmonella spp. and Enterococcus spp., while preventing biofilm formation.
The Challenge: Pathogens Threatening Poultry Production and Food Safety

Food safety
Salmonella contamination remains the leading cause of foodborne hospitalizations and the second leading cause of death worldwide. The top six serovars—including S. Enteritidis, S. Typhimurium, and the emerging S. Infantis—account for over 50% of infections annually. S. Infantis is often overlooked but significantly impacts broiler production globally.

Hygiene
Insufficient farm hygiene opens the door to pathogens like Enterococcus spp., which form resilient biofilms contaminating drinking water systems. Co-infections with E. coli can cause acute and chronic diseases, increasing neonatal mortality and locomotor disorders such as E. cecorum-associated osteomyelitis and spondylitis—major financial burdens for producers.

Biofilms
Biofilms are a hidden risk: 71% of bacterial isolates from biofilms show phenotypic resistance, and biofilm regrowth can occur within 72 hours after cleaning and disinfection during sanitary stops.

PROVEN RESULTS FOR BROILER CHICKENS
The benefits for broiler producers include disease prevention by reducing the presence of infection-causing pathogens, mortality reduction by lowering exposure to pathogens, improved performance due to a cleaner environment that reduces stress and infection risk, and food safety by helping to control Salmonella spp. and deliver Salmonella-free poultry meat.
- Salmonella elimination from week 12 to end of rearing period and prevalence reduction by up to ≥ 95% during production period on barn surfaces and 67% reduction on carcasses at pre-chilling stage.
- Complete elimination of Enterococcus spp. from surfaces, reducing the presence of infection-causing pathogens.
- Up to 20% reduction in mortality, with statistically significant improvements.
- Body weight gain increased by up to 19g per chicken per cycle, enhancing production efficiency.
**CID LINES, An Ecolab Company, partnered with Vetworks, a Belgium veterinary services company, to conduct comparative field trials on four broiler farms. The study aimed to evaluate the AviPrime program, a comprehensive barn and water hygiene program. This program includes the cleaning and disinfection of broiler farms and drinking water systems during the sanitary stop, comparing it to current practices on commercial broiler farms.

PROVEN RESULTS FOR LAYING HENS
The benefits for egg producers include food safety by supporting the delivery of Salmonella-free eggs, gut health maintenance thanks to high water quality standards, mortality reduction by decreasing pathogen exposure, and better production efficiency with more egg weight due to improved nutritional efficiency.
- Improved gut health and nutritional efficiency.
- Mortality rates dropped by 5.15% during rearing and 2.65% during laying period.***
- Body weight increased by 3.4% at the rearing end.
- Egg weight improved by 2.81% with a 3.17% better feed-to-egg conversion rate.***
**CID LINES, An Ecolab Company, collaborated with a Latin American poultry integrator to conduct a comprehensive field trial in a commercial layer housing in Mexico.
***From week 18 to 37 of the laying phase
